Work & Volunteer Experience
Hello! I’m Matthew Mayer. It appears that you want to know more about my work experience. Allow me to elucidate.
From the summer to the winter of 2024, I worked as a common service worker at Dubdub Toys, a local tchotchke proprieter located in the Steveston district of Richmond, British Columbia. Though my time there was short, I was able to amass a considerable number of hours and develop skills in various areas—areas of probable interest to prospective employers.
During my time at Dubdub Toys, I:
- Learned how to communicate comfortably and respectfully with customers by listening to their needs, answering questions, and helping them find the right products.
- Assisted with returns and problem situations in a calm, friendly way, helping people leave the store feeling heard and supported.
- Operated the point-of-sale system and handled cash and card payments accurately, even during busy periods.
- Managed inventory by restocking shelves, organizing products, and keeping track of stock levels and seasonal demand.
- Helped design and set up product displays and seasonal sections to make the store inviting and easy to navigate.
- Solved problems on the spot, such as locating out-of-stock items or finding alternatives, while keeping customer experience in mind.
- Balanced multiple responsibilities—including stocking, cleaning, and cashier duties—by staying organized and managing time well.
- Worked collaboratively with coworkers to keep the store running smoothly, especially during high-traffic days and holiday rushes.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
